From an Abbey Client
“Dear Mike and Staff,
I have to tell you that being away from the Abbey has only made me
realize even more how much you all changed my life. To be
completely honest, I should say, saved my life. I was so very sick
when you came into my life, I had no idea how lost I was or how
close to death I was. I came in believing I was helpless! I was
angry – at times mean – and terrified. Somehow, through the thick
black fog, you all gave me a beacon of light – hope that maybe I
could be OK. I fought hard to remain lost, and you all found me.
Each and every person that works there went – and continues to go –
above and beyond the call of duty. You all are not just ‘doing your
job,’ you are loving and saving people like me everyday. The
experience, strength, and hope you all share is amazing. I never
felt like I was alone. You all are my friends, my saviors, my
heroes. There are really no words I can express to ever thank you
enough! I have said it 100 times and will say it again THE ABBEY
SAVED MY LIFE! I love the fact that every Monday you open the
doors and have the open A.A. meeting; out of all the meetings I go
to it is the best! It’s so helpful in my recovery to have a weekly
reminder of where I’ve been and were I can go with this program. I
feel that you all gave me some of the most important tools to help
me live in sobriety. Plus, it is wonderful to welcome new-comers,
see alumni, and chat with you all. Just like any other addict,
I have to take it a day at a time, I am not a saint, and far from
perfect! As you all know all to well! Being sober is not easy for
any of us with this wicked disease, but inside your walls I received
and receive strength. I know that without you I would not be here
today. I am still so new to recovery, but I believe, not just hope,
that I can do this. I have never heard of anyone being homesick
when they leave a treatment center; well, I sure am! I think that
is because I never felt like I was in a ‘treatment center,’ I felt
like I was in a new home, and in the end of my stay it was home.
Thank you all for everything you do! I truly love you guys! You
are making a difference…”
From an Abbey Client
“Hello Mike!
I hope this e-mail finds everyone at The Abbey in good health and good
spirits. My journey in sobriety just keeps getting better and better in
every aspect of my life. Most importantly, my children have come back into
my life and I get to be just 'Mom' right now...what a blessing!”
From the Parent of an Abbey Client
“Dear Abbey Staff:
My daughter has become a new person, and, in fact, is on the way to
becoming the person we knew she could be, because of the support,
care, guidance and understanding provided to her by The Abbey -- a
wonderful, tranquil, peaceful place that not only gave her her Life,
but also truly, and without a doubt, saved her Life. The Abbey
provided her the tools, hope, and encouragement to face her ongoing
battle that I could not, nor could anyone else who loves her. I
thank God everyday that this remarkable facility is so close to
home, and that she is more whole in Heart, Spirit and Mind than she
has been in more years than I even realized. There are no words
to describe how very Thankful I am that she was able to have the
help and experience you and your staff provided.

Thank you so very much, Michael…..there are no words to describe how very
Thankful I am that she was able to have the help and experience you and your
staff provided. I could see that you did not want to turn her away,
but she was not ready or able to begin the journey to becoming well with
your help just yet; her spirit and her body were so very fragile. In
fact, almost completely broken…. I am so proud and happy for her, and most
importantly, she is proud of herself….
Thank you from the very deepest part of my heart for all your love and
support for her. Without you, I cannot think of where she might
be...with you, she is on her way to a Better and Happier Life….. ”
